“Case con quinta sul verde II” is part of a bigger project which transforms an area where children used to play in the 1970s into a geometric green square near the hilly area of Sesto Fiorentino. Six townhouses are built near the northwestern edge of the park. Here the concept of the reconstructed margin, capable of ordering the quality of public space, is taken up and deepened with an urban design purpose. The typology of the building is revisited by extending the depth of the terraced houses on the ground floor and emptying out the rear part of the first floor. This design approach allows direct illumination of the central part of the lower level and generates the “open-air room”, a sort of exterior living room for the warm season.
